Monkey Shoulder

Some bottles are for quiet contemplation. This one is for a kitchen full of friends and a playlist that's slowly getting louder.

On the nose: malt, honey, and orange peel. Simple, warm, welcoming.

On the palate: smooth toffee and vanilla with a bit of spiced oak. Round enough to sip neat, sturdy enough to carry a whisky sour without disappearing.

The finish: short, sweet, and completely unpretentious. Much like this review.

If you're building a first shelf, this is the workhorse: the bottle you can pour for anyone, mix into anything, and replace without wincing at the price.
